Spring wedding trends at Rockbeare Manor

Our team here at Rockbeare Manor, our grade I listed wedding and events venue near Exeter, consider themselves to be very lucky. Our journey to work includes a drive up the most beautiful, quintessentially English sweeping driveway, and our days are spent talking to happy couples and their families and friends, and helping them to plan the wedding of their dreams.

This spring, we’ve been waiting with bated breath for another ‘Beast from the East’ to appear, but as have just enjoyed a beautiful and sunny Easter weekend, we can sit back a little bit and begin to actually enjoy all that this time of year in Devon involves.

Rockbeare Manor is surrounded by beautiful gardens and parkland. From our daffodils in front of the house, to the gentle bleating of lambs in the nearby fields, it’s truly a magical place to be. We wanted to focus this blog on some other spring trends, and things that we’re expecting to see more of as the year unfolds.

Comfortable men (!) – it’s been getting more so over the past few years, but finally now seems acceptable. Men - it is no longer expected that you should wear bow ties and uncomfortable suits. You get to be comfy all day long, and sometimes (gasp) even undo a top button…Whilst you may not mind wearing a tie and jacket in the middle of winter, when the sun comes out as it has been in recent weeks, you’ll definitely want to be more comfortable.

Simple dresses – to accompany the point above, wedding dresses have become less fussy in recent years and we’re thrilled to see that Meghan’s beautiful dress style from 2018 is now a firm favourite style amongst Rockbeare Manor brides. It seems that many of you agree, simple really is often best. This time of year lends itself really well to simple, classic designs that are often accompanied by beautiful, locally grown blooms in your bouquet.

Moissanite engagement rings – these sparklers are just as beautiful as diamonds, but tend to be man-made so are sustainable and conflict free. More and more we see that people are choosing to make a statement when they’re planning their weddings and we love that today’s wedding parties are more conscious than ever of their impact upon the world.

Simple, contemporary cakes – this trend has been growing in recent years, but we predict that more and more couples at Rockbeare will go for simple, two tiered, contemporary cakes. We have a list of local (and very clever) cake makers and would be delighted to put you in touch with them.

Whatever sort of event you’re planning, and whenever you’re planning it, why not come and look around Rockbeare Manor? Please just get in touch by calling 01392 797444. We’d love to hear from you and would be delighted to show you around our beautiful venue, and to talk through plans for your big day.
