Becky
Head Gardener
Becky has been gardening all of her life, thanks to her Grandad's influence. She even still uses his old tools, her prized possession being his old Merry Tiller!
After studying for her HND in Horticulture at Bicton College, and following a varied career including managing garden centres, propagation, and floristry, Becky joined the team at Rockbeare Manor in 2016.
Becky was responsible for the entire re-design of the long borders and gardens at Rockbeare Manor and to her credit, they are now mature and looking wonderful.
In her spare time you'll find her on her allotment plots growing veggies, pottering in the greenhouse. Or hiking on Woodbury Common, Dartmoor or along the coastal path.
A few words from Becky...
I love garden history, so working at Rockbeare Manor is a real privilege for me.
My Favourite Plant: Erigeron karvinskianus (Mexican Fleabane). It wants for nothing, but gives so much. Flowering from April until the worst frost in Winter.
My Least Favourte Plant: Bamboo! If its a spreader, once it's in the ground you'll be lucky to get it out. I blame the old TV show 'Ground Force' for so much of it being planted !
My Gardening Top tip: Look after your soil. A rich nutritious soil full of microorganisms and insects will encourage great growth in your plants.
