Pride Month at Rockbeare Manor

This month’s blog is written by Melissa Hornsby, one of our lovely Event Managers here at Rockbeare Manor. So Melissa, it's over to you....

This Pride Month, we’re proud to shine a light on our ongoing support for the LGBTQ+ community. At Rockbeare Manor, we’re committed to being an inclusive and welcoming space for all — a place where individuality is embraced, and every love story is celebrated.

June is a month that many people hold close to their hearts, as this marks the anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall riots, a pivotal moment in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights. This historic event sparked a global movement—one rooted in courage, resilience, and the demand for equality. Which now serves as a reminder of how far we’ve come, and how important it is to continue creating spaces where love in all its forms can flourish.

As a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, it means the world to me to help create a space where LGBTQ+ couples feel truly seen, valued, and celebrated from the moment they arrive. Too often, the wedding industry can feel overwhelmingly heteronormative, and it’s incredibly important to me that no couple ever feels like an exception to the rule — but rather, an essential part of the joy and love we host here at Rockbeare Manor.

We’ve had the joy of hearing from LGBTQ+ couples who have already celebrated their weddings with us — and those who are currently planning their big day at Rockbeare Manor in Devon.

In this blog, we are going to hear some of their kind words and shared experiences, which reflect just how important it is to us, that everyone feels truly welcomed and supported throughout every step of the journey.

Adam & Matt

“The second we arrived at Rockbeare Manor we were made to feel welcome and at ease. Having been to a couple of venues where being a member of the LGBTQ+ community was ignored and unacknowledged, it was amazing to not only feel accepted but seen and celebrated by Melissa and the team at Rockbeare ahead of our wedding. It has been amazing to truly share our excitement with a venue that we know values us as we start to plan our special day.”

Emma & Cerys

“I think one of the most valuable things we've so appreciated is just being treated like any other couple - no "where's the groom!" which happened a few times! The fact that there are photos of LGBT weddings on your website too was so gorgeous to see and we've felt so welcomed and nothing but positivity! Rockbeare Manor really has done the most to make us excited and celebrated.”

“Having our LGBT wedding at the Rockbeare Manor was truly magical a perfect blend of love, history and elegance.

The warmth and acceptance we felt from everyone around us created an atmosphere of pure joy from our guests to every member of staff where love was celebrated freely and authentically just how it should be done.

It was important to us to feel safe and welcomed when choosing our wedding venue and Rockbeare Manor couldn’t have done anything more for us from our initial visit for a viewing to the completion of our wedding.”

“We’ve just recently booked our wedding day with Rockbeare Manor and although it’s 2 years away the team have been amazing. From when we first visited they were all very welcoming to arranging our quotes, answering our many questions nothing seemed to much trouble. We can’t wait to start arranging out big day in such a beautiful Manor knowing there is a good team who will help us all the way!”

"Our experience with Rockbeare Manor has been incredible from the very start. Everyone has been so welcoming and accommodating, making us feel truly supported every step of the way. The venue itself is absolutely stunning, and the team go above and beyond to answer any questions, offering a truly personalised experience.

Before we even booked, we attended a same-sex wedding at Rockbeare and were blown away by how inclusive and comfortable it felt — we knew then how special the place was. We never imagined it would be within our budget, but Rockbeare offer a range of packages to suit different needs, making our dream day feel possible.

One of the most important things for Chloe and myself was being able to include our little pooch in the day, and Rockbeare have made that possible too — something that means the world to us.

Little did Chloe know that just a few months after that first visit, she'd be wearing a ring on her finger!"

Hearing the heartfelt stories and kind words from our LGBTQ+ couples has been truly moving, and we hope these voices reflect the inclusive and welcoming spirit at the heart of Rockbeare Manor.
